The main objective of Camping.Info is to provide the best possible assistance to people making decisions when planning their camping holiday. In this context we describe the basic concept of this camping guide with the characteristics “open” and “live”.

“Open” means that …

• every European campsite is entered in Camping.Info in principle (no minimum size or other preconditions), as long as it is an official campsite (not just a car park).
• registration of the campsites is totally free of charge and without commitment. Each campsite has the same opportunities.
• the camping guide is available to all campers free of charge now and in future.
• Camping.Info is being published with all its functions in all European languages (in the case of new developments, versions in languages other than German will come online with a certain time lag).

“Live” means that

• thousands of people are contributing jointly to this continually increasing pool of information
• the “hard facts” (details on facilities, characterisation, leisure facilities etc.) are provided directly by the campsite operators and can be maintained by them directly online at any time
• the “soft facts” (star ratings, comments, holiday pictures etc.) are provided by the campsite visitors. Each visitor can give his/her own evaluation and opinion of the visited campsite on Camping.Info.
• the Camping.Info editorial activity is concentrated on ensuring a certain minimum quality standard with respect to the content by reviewing all the contributions, counteracting any attempts of misuse by all those involved and serving as central point of contact for all queries, suggestions and complaints.

Campsite visitors help to improve Camping.Info

Through this joint effort by campsite operators and campsite visitors and the ever increasing number of contributors and ratings, Camping.Info tries to allow an increasingly broad – and increasingly objective – picture of each campsite to emerge from the multitude of subjective opinions. Camping.Info is financed mainly through long-term sponsoring partners as well as advertising space available for flexible booking.

Campingplätze können auf Camping.Info eine verstärkte Präsentation buchen ohne damit die Such- und Informationsmöglichkeiten für die Camper zu beinträchtigen.

Auch diese Campingplätze haben selbstverständlich keinen Einfluss auf die Gäste-Bewertungen, sondern haben dieselben Möglichkeiten wie alle anderen Betriebe (Anmerkungen verfassen, Richtlinienverstöße melden).

Für Camping.Info ist diese Trennung DAS zentrale Element für eine qualitativ hochwertige Informationsplattform.

Note: special case Austria

Due to business-related and historic links, the following special conditions exist for Austria: All Austrian campsites, which are also included in the database of www.campingfuehrer.at, will be listed on Camping.Info on principle. 300 in number, these campsites represent approx. 70% of all operations. Due to a contractual relationship, we want to let these campsites themselves decide whether they wish to make themselves available for rating by campsite visitors on Camping.Info or not. Operations outside Austria, on the other hand, only have the option of having their entry removed completely from the Camping.Info database, if they do not wish to be subject to open rating by visitors.
